Online Safety Tips

The internet can be a fun place to meet new people and keep in touch with existing friends, but be aware of the risks on the web. If you're going to use the internet, do it safely! Here are a few safety tips that everyone should consider before signing up for any new web site:

Never reveal personally-identifiable information online.

- It's like putting your picture and address on a billboard!

Never share your password with other people (except for your parents).

- Protect your personal info.

Never arrange meetings with strangers.

- There are creepy people out there.

Don't believe everything you read or see online.

- People mislead and misdirect.

Don't download files or software without your parents' permission.

- It could be dangerous for you and your computer.

Don't respond to inappropriate messages or emails.

- Don't give them the satisfaction.

Don't post inappropriate content.

- Nobody wants to see it.

Be leery of personal questions from strangers.

- You never know who you could be talking to.

Understand what you put online will be there forever, unless you delete your Tagged profile and separately any videos, or photos you uploaded to Tag.

- One mistake can last a lifetime.

If you are a teenager, talk to your parents about what you do online.

- It's always good to have feedback from an adult.

If you are in school, follow the Internet use rules your parents and school have established.

- Breaking the rules can be fun sometimes, but when it comes to your safety, you gotta take them seriously.

Visit online safety websites to educate yourself and friends.

Be Wary of Spam and Viruses

Occasionally people may misuse TheDareClub to promote products they're trying to sell or to try to get more information about you for fraudulent purposes. Don't respond to such messages and be careful about the links you click on. You should also make sure you have adequate virus and spy ware protection installed on your computer so that if you accidentally click on a harmful link, your computer will alert you.

If you see commercial postings on a message board or receive any such messages, you should also make sure to report these instances to the TheDareClub staff so that we can remove the content and prevent the person who posted it from doing so again in the future.
